Small speakers
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Purchased this netbook from Amazon. Nice little netbook marred by some annoying "features".

Pros (just a few highlights):

- N270 cpu at 1.66ghz instead of 1.60ghz, so it gets slightly better performance than some other netbooks.
- Nice webcam.
- Nice microphone.

Cons:

- Barely audible speakers at least for webchat. I did a video chat and I could not hear the other person. I had to plug in headphones to hear them. Otherwise, they are adequate.
- Battery is not flush with unit (though I guess this allows for longer run time, take a good look at the pictures).
- Lots of bloatware.

So overall a nice unit, with the most glaring flaw being the "speakers". With such underpowered speakers, the ability for this netbook to serve as a portable entertainment device, or even for a quick video chat is seriously hampered as is.

Great for it's use
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The Acer 1955 Netbook is just what I was looking for. I had only one problem that was easily rectified. The mouse pad stopped working on the third day of use. I had to reinstall the drivers. Other then that I recommend it to anyone. Good deal Good product.

Awesome Netbook!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Bought this netbook. Price was extremely cheap so I jumped on it. First of all, this unit is beautiful. The Blue finish really is fantastic. The black bezel inside along with blue makes it look quite nice.

Pros:
-9-Cell Battery. Measured over 7 hours of use when having constant internet gaming(Runescape), using a bluetooth mouse and brightest brightness on screen.
-Super Bright screen. I was slightly worried about screen being dim, but it is extremely bright, very pleased.
-Windows XP - Proven OS, and no extra money needed to upgrade to 7 Home or whatever.
-Great wireless, better reception that my large laptop.
-Once bloatware removed, very quick. Can do some basic multitasking with ease.

Cons:
-No back up CD's. Must get external drive to burn copy of OS to CD and drivers. Minor annoyance. Most people get external drive anyways.
-Wish it was free?

Great netbook, very happy with it.

Great laptop at a terrific price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My wife purchased this great little netbook for me as a gift at 4am on Black Friday. We received a "SALE" e-mail from Amazon in the middle of the night and the price was reduced on this exact model/color that was well below the current price. This came with the 9 hr. battery and I had read where when the computer is first charged that it is suppose to be totaly discharged and then recharged at least 3 times to get the maximun battery conditioning in it. The first time I charged this great little computer I got over 10 hours out of the battery before it reached 3% and this was running it mostly on web sites and doing some external DVD burning with it plus removing a lot of bloatware and installing a lot of new software.
Pros for this netbook include:
Great price
Small size
Great web cam
Super battery life
Windows XP (sp3) instead of Windows Vista or Windows 7

Cons for this netbook:
Built in speakers are not very loud.
Poor touchpad (to small and seems to have a mind of it's own)
Finger print magnet! :)
Lots of bloatware such as games and free trial offers.
90 Day trial of "resource hogging" McAfee Anti Virus. (That was the first thing I removed!!)

I purchased a Logitech M205 wireless mouse for it and that took care of my dislike for the touchpad.
I also purchased a Asus external USB only powered CD/DVD burner for it which works great and it very compact so it keeps with my wanting everything small for it.
I also replaced the original 1GB of RAM that came installed in it with a Crucial 2GB Ram chip before I ever turned on the netbook for the first time.. Runs great but cannot determine how much faster it is because I never used it with the original 1GB of RAM in it.
I highly recommend this netbook for students and anyone that does not need a high powered laptop. Since it does not come with any type of CD/DVD burner, that would be a added expense if you need one, but many good USB only powered burners can be found here on Amazon for $40 to $75
Good luck. :)

Great for Black Friday Price of $250
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I spent a lot of time researching netbooks. One option I wanted was to be able to replace the hard drive, which is possible on the Aspire One but not many others. I pulled the trigger on Black Friday, when Amazon was selling the 1955, which has XP, bluetooth, a 5800 mAh battery, and the N280 processor (all good) for $250. These options on this and other netbooks push the price closer to $400.

The unit is good, but other netbooks have better keyboards. This model's isn't bad, but the keys could be bigger; it does have a proper right shift key, which is crucial. Battery life if outstanding, at around 9-10 hours for basic web browsing and the screen dimmed to about 60%, which is perfectly viewable. Haven't been able to get bluetooth working yet, but I've only tried once so far. Performance is standard for netbooks with the Atom processor. For a heavy video user, I would suggest getting one with an Ion chip or similar.

Highly recommended for web and email use and anyone that needs to access the drive bay. New models coming out at CES, so the AO250 design will probably be phased out. If you're going to get an Aspire One, get this model.

Nice!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is my 3rd netbook and is by far the best. It came with Windows XP, but I installed Ubuntu Linux and have loved it since. It has buttons to turn bluetooth and wireless on/off. The battery life is phenominal, I have gotten over 7 hrs. and still had some juice left. This netbook is a must have.

Acer AOD250 -1955 Netbook with 9 hour battery
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This netbook and its battery life are just as advertised if you are just surfing the net. Adding an external disk drive halves that. You need to let the battery charge up first, then completely discharge down to nothing then recharge it to get the full 9 hours out of it.

The netbook is light enough to use - the keyboard takes a bit to get used to. Man the screen is small! Hitting the shift key doesn't always work LOL.

Runs better with 2 GB memory installed. I got it with Windows XP installed to save money so I could buy the extra memory and external drive.

I take this to doctor's offices while I'm waiting and love how light and portable it is.

The only negative things I can say for it is that the SPEAKERS suck and are chintzy. I could barely hear any music playing. I had to connect external battery powered speakers for portability to get a good sound. Also, a negative thing is that the 3 USB ports get used up quickly by a wireless mouse and an optical drive that is external that takes up 2 ports but that is easily solved by connecting a 4 port external USB 2.0 hub to it that is portable.

I use this in my bedroom most of the time for chatting, checking email and doing online banking and then for traveling or waiting in doctor's offices. It works great with a wireless broadband USB modem for those purposes.

I have a dog at home and the netbook attracts dog hairs like crazy to it for some oddball reason.

The webcam takes pretty good pics - even in low light but is a cheezy looking pic.

I was pleased with the overall performance and for $280 is a nice purchase.

Too small screen
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I purchased this as a web surfing computer that is small and light. After receiving it and giving it a try for a week, my wife and I both got headaches from squinting trying to focus on the screen. It was just too small for us to use comfortably. The computer worked great and seemed to be plenty fast and have plenty of memory to have multiple web pages open at once including heavy Flash games. The computer was made of good materials and seemed to be of good quality. Keep in mind that if you get any of these netbooks with extended battery life beyond 3 hours and are more than 3 cells, the battery will stick out the back about an inch. In the end we returned it and are purchasing a 13 in ultraportable for a little but more money. I suggest really trying one of these out before making a purchase to see if it is going to be right for you.
