    Great Laptop!

Before this, I had a IBM ThinkPad running XP. It was slow and I couldn’t do much with it. Then I switched over to Mac. Mac OS X is the best operating system out there. It’s easy to use, but it’s so powerful. My MacBook has beautiful design and is well thought out. My only complaints are that it costs quite a bit and it gets hotter when in use than my IBM did. iThink–ahem, I think, that iLife is a great software suite. I got iWork too, which runs well on it. I bought Colin McRae Rally Mac and it runs admirably on the Mac, besides about a second of lag every 15 minutes.

The processor is blazing fast, but I hope Apple will upgrade all their computers to i3, i5, and i7 Intel processors. The Nvidia graphics are wonderful. And the screen? Well, the screen is incredibly bright. The colors are vivid and bright. I would highly recommend getting a MacBook.

    Apple MacBook Rules!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love the MacBook! You’re instantly greeted by glorious full screen brightness. The LED-backlit display is power efficient. And it’s mercury and arsenic free. I like the smaller, lighter frame, compared to any PC. Measuring a mere 1.08 inches thin and weighing in at only 5.0 pounds. It also offers a unique keyboard design that sits flush against the bed for a sleeker, lower profile. Other standard Apple “extras” includes a built-in iSight video camera. Stylishly and intelligently designed, the MacBook has everything I am looking for: affordability, innovation, powerful computing. My MacBook has a 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a 160 GB hard drive, plenty of room for music, photos, videos, and more. Hardware features include a built-in Gigabit Ethernet for high-speed networking, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), two USB ports, FireWire, and Mini-DVI video output. Apple has an updated model (10/09) with a 250 GB hard drive. I do not need the extra memory, amazingly, the newer model, does not have a FireWire port.

I like Apple’s magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter. This feature offers a magnetic connection instead of a physical one. If you to trip over a power cord, you won’t send MacBook flying off a table or desk, the cord simply disconnects, without damage to either the cord or the system. The adapter is easy to connect and disconnect without having to struggle with the connector. Opening and closing your MacBook is also a pleasure, thanks to a magnetic latch, there are no moving parts to snag, jam, or break. Again, I do not have to struggle with some PC toggle switch to open my MAC.

The 160 GB Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 RPM) high speed transfer of data, akin to FireWire and USB 2.0. The 2 GB of DDR2 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 512 MB) have an 800 MHz speed, and the RAM capacity can be increased to 4 GB. The 13.3 inch glossy widescreen display, excellent video processing power from the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics chip, and an integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi LAN, provides compatibility with older 802.11b/g routers. It includes an 8x combo Superdrive for burning dual-layer DVDs as well as CDs. It comes pre-loaded with Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard operating system, the iLife ‘09 suite of applications, including iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, and iTunes.

Battery lasts between 5 and 6 hours. The hafnium-infused circuitry–which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors conserves even more energy, giving you more time away from the wall outlet. Apple has worked hard to eliminate many of the toxins that are a common part of computer manufacturing. Apple engineers removed the majority of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from circuit boards, internal cables, connectors, insulators, adhesives, in the MacBook.

Because Apple makes both the hardware and the software for the MacBook, they’re designed to work together to produce a smarter product that uses less electricity. The MacBook hard drive spins down automatically when inactive. The MacBook also decides which processor CPU or GPU is best suited to efficiently perform a task. The processor even throttles down to save power between keystrokes as you type. Together, these adjustments make the MacBook much more energy efficient and result in fewer CO2 emissions.

Made in America by Americans. I have gone through four different PCs using Microsoft operating systems in four years. Microsoft makes a bad product, cheaply and poorly designed made in Asia. The Asian hard drives constantly failed and crashed. Programs were slow to load and constantly crashed. The MAC is fanatstic. The superior Apple product is well designed, efficient and dependable. The Apple MacBook MC240LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop is the best that I have owned! I thoroughly endorse and recommend Apple products to anyone.

    Be aware of defective LCD
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
A lot of this model have defective Samsung LCD panel in it.

    [...]

I got one. And it is such a hassle to have Apple to repair or replace it for you.

I already tried to repair twice, every time they return still defective. And they won’t replace it for me. Horrible customer service and quality control.

Horrible. Stay away. I know this is already the last generation, but still, stay as far away from this computer as possible.

    poor hardware
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
We purchased a bulk of this item for the teachers in our school. The software is excellent but we are very disappointed with the hardware. Before our units reached 1 year, most of us brought them to the service center already. most had chipped off parts. some had problem with hard disks. the unit was covered for the first year but considering how easily it gets damaged, i think it won’t take long ’til we need to spend more for this unit. Please get the new mac book instead and don’t settle for this unit. you will regret it!

    Buy a keyboard cover
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I had this computer for only 2 months. A cup of water got spilled into the keyboard, thus destroying the logic (mother) board. Apple offered to fix it for $800- thanks, but no thanks. I called Apple because I still need a new laptop. They suggested I buy a keyboard cover next time- perhaps that would have saved it.

While I had it, it was a nice computer, but I had some issues with migration- moving my data from my older laptop to this one. The time got messed up- it wanted to stay on GMT. I called Apple and they figured out that a folder with local time or something had to be trashed to fix the problem. It took some time, but trashing the folder they told me to trash fixed the problem. So if you’re migrating information, call Apple if your date/time doesn’t set properly.

My main reason for writing this review is not to say what a great computer this is. In fact, the newer one is out with more RAM (3Gb) and more HD storage (250 Gb), for the same price that I bought this one 3 months ago. I love Macs in general- mainly the fact that you don’t have to worry about viruses- the hackers don’t seem to be able to get into the OS system- and I think Macs are easier to use- more intuitive than PCs. But my reason for writing is to help someone avoid the problem I had and to encourage them to buy a keyboard cover. The logic board sits just beneath the keyboard and water is “a kiss of death” to the computer, as my computer expert friend likes to say.

Apple does not currently offer damage protection, so if you spill water on it, you may very well have to replace it. Perhaps the keyboard cover will protect it. I certainly plan to buy one for my next computer.

    New Model Available
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Although the white macbook is a great machine, be advised that this is the older model. Apple released an updated model on 10/20/09 with upgraded features for $999. You may want to check it out on the Apple website before you purchase. However this older model is still a great machine and if you are looking to save $100 this is still a good deal.

    Best Computer I’ve ever owned.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
In the month since purchasing my macbook it has become my bestfriend. Surprisingly it’s quite dirt resistant considering it being completely white. If you tend to use your computer away from home a lot I’d recommend a sleeve or keyboard protector. The colors are amazing & the speed is impeccable! But, what else is there to expect from a mac?

    Fast and furios
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My 11 year old bought this computer and here is what he thinks about it:

This computer is really fast and its worth all the money for all the things it does, I like it a lot.

I like this computer for its design, the magsafe power adapter and the keyboard design.

I also like its colors and the beautiful graphics.

I really recommend this computer. Its better than the xp windows vista and windows 7. Windows programs are not so good and don’t function as well, they function but

not as well as a Mac.

If Your going to buy a windows computer don’t even think twice D-O-N-T, in my opinion I don’t like windows.

    BUY A MAC.
